What happened. Gross GST collections for April 2026, announced on 1 May, were a record of about Rs 2.42-2.43 lakh crore, up about 8.7% on a year earlier.

Why it matters for investors. April collections are typically the highest of the year because of year-end invoicing, so month-to-month comparisons should be made with care.
