RBI holds the repo rate at 5.25%

By Dhara Hariya ยท

What happened. On 6 February 2026 the Monetary Policy Committee left the repo rate unchanged at 5.25% with a neutral stance and deferred its FY27 growth and inflation forecasts to the April meeting, pending data under revised statistical base years.

Why it matters for investors. The RBI delayed projections because MoSPI was introducing new base years for GDP and consumer-price statistics, which change how growth and inflation are measured.
